Thimbiri Pokuna is an old pond located on the premises of the ancient monastery of Jetavanaramaya. It is the largest pond found within the complex.
Thimbiri Pokuna (Anuradhapura) T himbiri Pokuna (Sinhala: තිඹිරි පොකුණ) is an old pond located on the premises of the ancient monastery of Jetavanaramaya . The pond was recorded in 1893 by H.C.P. Bell (b.1851-d.1937), the first Commissioner of Archaeology in Sri Lanka. The first archaeological excavation was carried out at the site between 1995-1998 with funds from the Central Cultural Fund.
