Tholuvila Monastery Ruins Toluvila Archaeological Reserve (Sinhala: තොළුවිල පුරාවිද්යා ස්ථානය) Tholuwila Monastery, Toluwila Monastery is a ruined Buddhist monastery site situated to the east of Anuradhapura Railway Station in Anuradhapura District, Sri Lanka. History This site has been recognized as the place where Arhat Mahinda Thera had taken shelter on the way from Chetiya Pabbata to Maha Viharaya in the 3rd century B.C. Pubbarama may have been the original name of this monastery complex and it may have belonged to the Abhayagiri sect (Wikramagamage, 2004).
