History The image house,  Potgula (library) and preaching hall of Padeniya temple were constructed by Megastenne Adikaram during the reign of King Kirti Sri Rajasinha [(1747-1782 A.D.) De Silva & Chandrasekara, 2009]. Of them, the  Potgula  (library) building is considered one of the oldest structures in the temple (De Silva & Chandrasekara, 2009).
