Cyathocalyx zeylanicus is an evergreen plant endemic to the island of Sri Lanka. It grows as a tree of about 70 ft. high (Worthington, 1959). The bark is smooth and dark in colour (Worthington, 1959). The fruit is green-brown in colour with alternating yellow bands. Trees are majorly found in forests located around 2,000 ft. altitude with rainfall of 90 inches (Worthington, 1959). The timber of the tree is used for producing lacquer walking sticks, cigar boxes, and butterfly cases (Worthington, 1959).
