Godapara
Dillenia retusa is an evergreen perennial plant endemic to the island of Sri Lanka. It grows as a tree of about 30 ft. high and produces timber that can be used in light constructions such as rafters, and posts (Worthington, 1959). The bark is grey-brown in colour and has vertical, wavy and convex patterns (Worthington, 1959). The flowers are white while the fruit is orange-red in colour. Trees are majorly found in the moist, western areas, below 1,500 ft. (Worthington, 1959). Vernacular names Sinhala: ගොඩපර (Godapara) Tamil: ?
