Hattota Amuna is a weir on Kalu Ganga River located near Kaluganga Reservoir. It was constructed during the reign of King Aggabodhi II (604-614 A.D.).
Hattota Amuna H attota Amuna (Sinhala: හත්තොට අමුණ), is a weir on Kalu Ganga River located near Kaluganga Reservoir in Matale Districts, Sri Lanka. History Hattota Amuna was constructed during the reign of King Aggabodhi II (604-614 A.D.) of Anuradhapura by damming the Kalu Ganga River and its water was conveyed northward along a canal which come to an abrupt termination after about 160 miles (Arumugam, 1969; Nicholas, 1963). According to local tradition, this canal formerly continued a further 12 miles and entered the Amban Ganga River just above the Elahera Anicut (Nicholas, 1963). The weir was repaired and reconstructed by King Parakramabahu I (1153-1186 A.D.) of Polonnaruwa (Arumugam, 1969).
