Jayasumanarama Viharaya (Palathuduwa)

Jayasumanarama Viharaya is a Buddhist temple situated in Palathuduwa village near Tangalle. Its Buddha shrine is engraved with the year 1902 A.D.

Not to be confused with Jayasumanarama Viharaya (Bulugahagoda) and Jayasumanarama Viharaya (Dapane) J ayasumanarama Viharaya (Sinhala: පලතුඩුව ජයසුමනාරාම විහාරය) is a Buddhist temple situated in Palathuduwa village near Tangalle in Hambantota District, Sri Lanka. The Buddha Shrine The Buddha shrine, preaching hall, monks' dwelling and the  Chapter House  building at Palathuduwa temple are considered old monuments of archaeological value. Of them, the Buddha shrine preserves a valuable collection of sculptures and murals following the art tradition of the  Kandyan Period . The stone door frame at the entrance of the shrine is engraved with the year 2446 B.E. (1902 A.D.). The Buddha shrine consists of two sections, the inner shrine and the ambulatory around it. A seated Buddha statue accompanied by other sculptures is found inside the inner shrine.
