Seethawaka Botanical Garden (Avissawella)
Seethawaka Wet Zone Botanical Garden, Avissawella (Sinhala: සීතාවක තෙත් කලාපීය උද්භිද උද්‍යානය) Sitawaka Botanical Garden is one of the botanical gardens in Sri Lanka. It is located in Awissawella, a small town in the Wet Zone of the country. The garden was declared open to the public on 25 March 2015 (Annual Report, 2015). The garden, extending in an area of 62 acres, is situated adjacent to the Indikada Mukalana Forest (APR, 2012). The climate of the area is normally cool and temperate and the garden is well nourished by a stream that flows through the garden. The garden mainly serves as a conservation ground for wet lowland plants as well as for endemic and threatened plants that are found in the Ratnapura- Sinharaja  region. Besides that, bamboo cultivation is also promoted by this botanical garden.
