Maha Kappina Walawwa (Sinhala: මහ කප්පින වලව්ව, මහ කප්පින වලව්ව සීමාමාලක විහාරය) was a manor house located in Welitara in Galle District, Sri Lanka. Presently, a Buddhist temple named Maha Kappina Walawwa Seema Malaka Viharaya has been established at the site. History This manor house was constructed in 1878 by Gunaratna Rajapakse (Abeyawardana, 2004). Thenceforth it provided shade for several dignitaries in the area until it disappeared from the landscape in the 2000s. Presently, the premises where the Walawwa stood is owned by Saddharmavamsa Maha Nikaya of the Amarapura sect (Abeyawardana, 2004). A model house similar to the original Walawwa has been built at the site recently. The Walawwa appeared in several movies including the Gamperaliya (1963) directed by Dr. Lester James Peiris.
