Madatugama Wewa

Madatugama Wewa (Sinhala: මඩාටුගම වැව) is a reservoir situated in Madatugama village in Anuradhapura District, Sri Lanka.

This is believed to be the ancient Mahadatta tank (also called Madata or Mahadattika) built by King Datusena (455-473 A.D.) or King Aggabodhi II [(608-618 A.D.) Nicholas, 1963]. It was restored during the reigns of King Vijayabahu I (1055-1110 A.D.) and King Parakramabahu I [(1153-1186 A.D.) Nicholas, 1963].
