Yohani Diloka de Silva, popularly known as Yohani (Sinhala: යොහානි දිලෝකා ද සිල්වා), is a Sri Lankan singer, songwriter, rapper and music producer.
Personal details
Born on 30 July 1993 in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Yahani is the eldest of two daughters in the family and her father Prasanna de Silva is a retired Major General in the Sri Lankan army. She completed her early education at the Visakha College in Colombo and then went to England for doing her A/L exams. After returning to Sri Lanka, she completed a BSc. degree in Logistics Management in the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University in 2016. Then she went to Australia to follow a Masters Degree in Accounting.
As a music artist
Most of the works by Yohani are found on social media platforms such as YouTube.
She is the first music artist in the country to receive over one million subscriptions on YouTube. Yohani's success as a music artist was begun with several cover songs that are published on her YouTube channel started in 2016. The uniqueness in her voice attracted a large audience mainly from South and East Asian countries. With the mass popularity she gained on social media platforms, Yohani expanded her domination as a singer on Sri Lankan live stages with other local artists.Yohani released her first single ‘Aaye’ in August 2020 and it was followed by three more singles. In 2021, her Sinhalese cover song named "Manike Mage Hithe" went viral across South Asia, attracting the attention of several Bollywood personalities.
