Not to be confused with Yahangala Viharaya Yahangala (lit: Bed-rock mountain; Sinhala: යහන්ගල) is a mountain located to the east of the Knuckles Mountain Range in Kandy District, Sri Lanka. The Yahangala mountain rises to a height of 1,261 m (4137.14 ft.) above mean sea level. Some locals link this mountain to King Ravana, a mythical figure depicted in the Indian epic Ramayanaya. According to them, the body of Ravana after his tragic death was laid to rest on this rock. However, the authenticity of the Ramayanaya is controversial and hence it is today dismissed as a myth by Sri Lankan scholars (JRASSL, 2014). .
