Hatthavanagallaviharavamsa

Hatthavanagalla-vihara-vamsa (Sinhala: හත්තවනගල්ල විහාර වංශය) is a Sri Lankan a Pali work of the 13th century. It contains the traditional history of the Attanagalla Viharaya and also a mythical account of King Sirisamghabodhi (252-254 A.D.) who is said to have lived in Hatthavanagalla (present Attanagalla) in retirement after the usurpation of his kingdom by King Gotabhaya [(254-267 A.D.) Wikramasinghe, 1900]. The work has been divided into 11 chapters. The author of Hatthavanagalla-vihara-vamsa is supposed to have been a pupil of Anomadassi Thera, the author of Daivajnakamadenu (Wikramasinghe, 1900). He is said to have composed it in the latter part of the reign of King Parakramabahu II [(1236-1270 A.D.) Wikramasinghe, 1900].
