Nugawela Central College

Nugawela Central College (Sinhala: නුගවෙල මධ්‍යමහා විද්‍යාලය) is a government mixed school situated in Nugawela in Kandy District, Sri Lanka.

History
This school is one of the Central Colleges initiated by C.W.W. Kannangara (1894-1969), the Minister of Education in the State Council (Abeyawardana, 2004). It was established on 4 January 1944 with the support of E.A. Nugawela (1898-1972), a Member of Parliament (Abeyawardana, 2004). The land for the school was donated by Hugh Nugawela, a brother of E.A. Nugawela (Abeyawardana, 2004). A.W. Mayadunne was the first principal of the school (Abeyawardana, 2004).

Facilities
At present, the school has common facilities such as classrooms, laboratories, libraries, playground, hostels etc. Classes are conducted for both boy and girl students from grade 6 to grade 13. Students are admitted to grade 6 on the basis of results of the Scholarship Examination
