Kimbulawala Street Foods (Sinhala: කිඹුලාවල වීදි ආහාර වෙළෙඳ සැල්) are found on the stream of fancy food trucks and stalls that are lined up along the Pitakotte-Thalawathugoda road in Kimbulawala. The stalls have been installed in the narrow space between the road and the Kimbulawala jogging track and the food line stretch about 300 m distance from the Kimbulawala junction.
This place has improved to some extent since its inception. Street meals such as hot dogs, burgers, sandwiches, fried corn and prawns, submarines, pizza, chicken/pork barbecue, noodles, Wade, Shawarma, Roti, Kottu and many beverages including tea, juices and mocktails are available at the site after 5.00 p.m. Both Dine-in and takeaway facilities are available.
In February 2023, the officials of the Road Development Authority (RDA) tried to remove the street food vendors from the site but, after this issue was highlighted in the media as well as in the Parliament, the RDA suspended the decision. However, on 7 December 2023 the Road Development Authority again informed the street food vendors to remove their stalls and vacate the location by 8 December citing that the stalls had been built without permission, in a way that obstructs vehicular movement on the roads.
