The preaching hall of Jayasumanarama Viharaya |
Jayasumanarama Viharaya (Sinhala: බුළුගහගොඩ ජයසුමනාරාම විහාරය) is a Buddhist temple situated in Bulugahagoda village near Bulugahagoda Railway Station and Old Ambalama in Gampaha District, Sri Lanka.
History
The temple was known as Bollathe Viharaya in the past. The preaching hall building of this premises is considered special as it bears unique architectural features which are not common in other Buddhist temples in the country. Some believe there was a Devalaya Shrine at this premises in ancient times.
A Protected Site
The ancient image house and preaching hall in the Bulugahagoda Sri Jayasumanarama Purana Vihara situated in the Grama Niladhari Division of East-Bulugahagoda (Grama Niladhari Division No. 210) in Gampaha Divisional Secretary’s Division are archaeological protected monuments, declared by a government gazette notification published on 23 November 2012.
