Allai Wewa is a reservoir situated in Toppur in Trincomalee. The original Allai tank, restored in 1890, was utilised for the Allai Scheme.

A llai Wewa (Sinhala: අල්ලෙයි වැව), is a reservoir situated in Toppur in Trincomalee District, Sri Lanka. The ancient Seruwia Raja Maha Viharaya and Wilgam Vehera Viharaya are located about 1 km east and north of this reservoir. History Allai Scheme A scheme to build an anicut across Verugal, cut a channel between Mavil Aru and Verugal, and deepen the Kallar channel with a flood bund and head regulator at Kallar was prepared in 1907 (Arumugam 1969). This scheme was inaugurated in 1928 by Sir Herbert Stanley (b.1872-d.1955), the Governor of British Ceylon from 1928 to 1931 (Arumugam 1969). In 1941, under the Allai Extension Scheme, the flow of the  Mahaweli Ganga River was conveyed for irrigation through Mavil Aru and Verugal Head Works (Arumugam 1969).
