Thumpankerny Wewa is a medium tank located north of Vellaveli in Batticaloa District. It presently belongs to the Navakiri Irrigation Region.

Thumpankerny Wewa is a medium tank located north of Vellaveli in Batticaloa District, Sri Lanka. It is an old tank later incorporated into the Gal Oya Scheme (Arumugam, 1969). It presently belongs to the Navakiri Irrigation Region.

Thumpankerny Wewa is one of the reservoirs located in the Andella Oya (Andal Oya) River basin. Having a catchment area of 264 ha, the storage capacity of the tank is 1.5 MCM at its full supply level. Its bund is 648 m in length. It has one clear overfall spill and one sluice. The length of the spill is 57.93 m.
