Pahala Kotawera Pattini Devalaya P ahala Kotawera Pattini Devalaya (Sinhala: පහල කොටවෙර පත්තිනි දේවාලය) is a Devalaya Shrine situated in Pahala Kotawera village in Badulla District, Sri Lanka. It is dedicated to Goddess Pattini, the patron goddess of fertility and health. The Pattini cult is said to have been brought to Sri Lanka from South India during the reign of King Gajabahu I (114-136 A.D.) of Anuradhapura . Locals believe that the Pattini Devalaya at Pahala Kotawera has a history that runs back to several centuries. A Protected Site The Pattini Devalaya and the Stupa in the precincts of the Pahala Kotawehera Devalaya Shrine, situated in Pahala Kotawera village in the Welimada Divisional Secretary Division are archaeological protected monuments, declared by a government notification published on 22 November 2002.
