B ambarakanda Falls (Sinhala: බඹරකන්ද ඇල්ල; Tamil: பம்பரக்கந்தை அருவி) is the tallest waterfall in Sri Lanka (Gunawardena, 2005). Standing at a height of 241 m (856.3 ft.), this fall is situated in the Kalupahana region near Haputale, within the Badulla District (Disanayaka, 2000; Vithanage, 1988). The source of the fall is the Kuda Oya, a tributary of the Walawe Ganga River . A narrow motorable road that leads left near the 175th km post on the Colombo-Badulla main road for about 4 km through Weerakoongama plantations brings travellers to the site of the waterfall.
