Buduruwagala Museum in Wellawaya, displays artifacts from Uva, spanning Anuradhapura to Kandy periods; it was established in 1988.

Buduruwagala Archaeological Museum (Sinhala: බුදුරුවගල කෞතුකාගාරය, Tamil: புதுருவாகல நூதனசாலை), Sri Lanka is one of the Regional Museums Administered by the Department of Archaeology. It is situated on the wayside of Wellawaya-Thanamalwila road approximately 5 km distance from Wellawaya town.

History

The museum was established in 1988 to display archaeologically and culturally valuable items in the Uva Province (Rambukwella, 2014).

Artefacts

The museum preserves a collection of artefacts mainly recovered from the Uva Province including the nearby Buduruwagala Archaeological Site. Antiquities of archaeological and historical value belonging to the Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Kandy periods are also exhibited in the museum.
