The Galle Fort Ambalama (Sinhala: ගාලු කොටුව අම්බලම) is located in Court Square in the ancient Galle Fort premises, Sri Lanka.
History
Ambalamas are traditional resting places built by locals to accommodate
wayfarers who were travelling to distant places. They were also used as a
place for people to gather, hold meetings and serve as a public place
in society. During the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries, Ambalamas were
spread all over the country.
Structure
The brick-built structure is relatively small and has been built on an elevated square-shaped platform. Four cylindrical pillars erected at the four points of the platform make the the inner space of the Ambalama but they are not bound by any side walls. The roof the Ambalama is held by the four cylindrical pillars and has been tiled with semi-cylindrical clay tiles (Sinhala Ulu).

ගාලු කොටුව අම්බලම
ගාලු කොටුව අම්බලම ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ පුරාණ ගාල්ල කොටුව පිහිටි අම්බලමකි.
අම්බලම්අතීතයේදී දුර බැහැර ප්‍රදේශවලට ගමන් කල මගීන්ට සිය පහසුව සළසා ගැනීම උදෙසා දේශීයයන් විසින් ඉදිකරන ලද සාම්ප්‍රදායික විවේක ස්ථාන ලෙස අම්බලම් හැඳින්වේ.
ඉදිකිරීමගඩොලින් තැනූ කුඩා ගොඩනැගිල්ලක් වන මෙම අම්බලම ඔසවන ලද හතරැස් පාදමක් මත ගොඩනංවා ඇත. හතරකොණ පිහිටවූ සිලින්ඩරාකාර කුළුණු හතරක් මගින් අම්බලමෙහි ඇතුල් ඉඩ අවකාශය තනන නමුත් කුළුණු සම්බන්ධ කරමින් කිසිදු පැති බිත්තියක් නොමැත. අම්බලමේ වහල සිලින්ඩරාකාර කුළුණු හතර මගින් උසුලනු ලබන අතර සිංහල උළු යොදා ගනිමින් වහලය සෙවිලි කර තිබේ.
