Dehena Ella Falls (Ratnapura)

Dehena Ella Falls
Dehena Ella Falls is a waterfall cascading between Pahalagama and Amunugama villages in Ratnapura District, Sri Lanka. Located on the wayside of Ratnapura-Wewelwatta road, the fall can be easily and safely viewed from the side of the road.

The fall, belonging to a series of waterfalls in the valley both of the Bambarakotuwa Oya and its tributary Wewel Dola, is about 40 m in height (Kautzsch, 1983). The sources of the waterfall are on the west slope of Kondurugala. The fall cascades through twin chutes and afterwards, the water flows to the Bambarakotuwa Oya, a tributary of the Denawak Ganga, joining the Kalu Ganga River (Kautzsch, 1983). During the rainy season, a large amount of water gushes down the waterfall, making the surrounding environment full of mist. The fall is not suitable for bathing.
