Born on 30 July 1993 in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Yahani is the eldest of two daughters in the family and her father Prasanna de Silva is a retired Major General in the Sri Lankan army. She completed her early education at the Visakha College in Colombo and then went to England for doing her A/L exams. After returning to Sri Lanka, she completed a BSc. degree in Logistics Management in the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University in 2016.
