Aralaganwila Wewa

Aralaganwila Wewa is a small reservoir situated in Polonnaruwa District. The tank, which was in ruins, was restored in 1956.

Aralaganwila Wewa (Sinhala: අරලගංවිල වැව) is a reservoir situated in Polonnaruwa District, Sri Lanka. The ancient Silumini Seya is located on the eastern edge of this tank.

History

This tank, which was in ruins, was restored in 1956 (Arumugam, 1969).

The Reservoir

The bund of the reservoir was about 4,300 ft. in length and the water was extending in an area of about 250 acres at its full supply level in the late 1960s (Arumugam, 1969). It has one spill and one sluice (Arumugam, 1969).
