The Metiyagane Ambalama is an old wayside rest situated on the wayside of the Ragalkanda-Thalgama road in Maspotha village in Kagalle District, Sri Lanka.

History
Ambalamas are traditional resting places built by locals to accommodate wayfarers who were travelling to distant places. They were also used as a place for people to gather, hold meetings and serve as a public place in society. During the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries, Ambalamas were spread all over the country.

The structure
The Metiyagane Ambalama is located on the edge of a paddy field. A well has been built adjacent to it for the usage of the travellers. On the short wall of this well is a note with the Buddhist Year 2497 (1953 A.D.).
Text: බීමට පමණයි. කෑම තහනම්. බුද්ධ වර්ෂ 2497
Translation: Only for drink. Eating is prohibited. Buddist Year 2497
