Garcinia echinocarpa is a plant endemic to the island of Sri Lanka. It grows as a tree of about 25 ft. high and has stilt air roots as in mangroves (Worthington, 1959). The bark is smooth and brown in colour with vertical patterns (Worthington, 1959). The flowers are greenish. Trees are majorly found in moist regions, above 2,000 ft. (Worthington, 1959). The timber is used to make roof shingles (Worthington, 1959).
