Lake House Building
The Lake House Building (Sinhala: කොළඹ ලේක් හවුස් ගොඩනැගිල්ල) is situated at No. 35, D.R. Wijewardana Mawatha in Colombo Fort, Sri Lanka. Lake House building is considered the oldest media house in the country (Welandawe & Weerasinghe, 2016). It was built in 1929 to house the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited, a public limited liability company incorporated in Sri Lanka in 1926 by its founder D. R. Wijewardena (1886-1950), one of the leaders in Sri Lanka's Independent Movement (Welandawe & Weerasinghe, 2016). The building was designed by renowned architect Sir Oliver Weerasinghe. The building was expanded in 1970 by adding a new part (Eastern Wing) which follows the exact architecture of the original building which is presently the part at the west corner.
