The Aligala Archaeological Site (Sinhala: අම්පාර අලිගල පුරාවිද්‍යා නටඹුන්) is situated towards the west of Japan Sama Chaitya at the place called Aligala Rock belonging to the Hardy Advanced Technological Institute in Ampara, Sri Lanka. The site consists of several archaeological monuments including Later Brahmi Rock Inscriptions, rock-cut flights of steps and a few ruins of buildings.

A Protected Site

The government has declared the Aligala rock (in the Grama Niladhari Division No. W/89/B, Samapura in the Divisional Secretary’s Division Ampara) an archaeological protected monument through a gazette notification published on 10 October 2014.
