Trincomalee Old Archaeological Museum Building (Photo credit: Google Street View) The Old Archaeological Museum Building of Trincomalee (Sinhala: ත්රිකුණාමලය පැරණි පුරාවිද්යා කෞතුකාගාර ගොඩනැගිල්ල) is located in Trincomalee town facing the inner harbour of the Trincomalee Port about 700 m southwest of the Maritime and Naval History Museum . History This building is believed to have been constructed during the Dutch Period [(1658-1796 A.D.) Haramoto et al., 2015]. The building was renovated and converted into a museum in 1987 but closed down in 1989 due to the eruption of the Sri Lankan Civil War which finally ended in May 2009 (Haramoto et al., 2015). After that, the property was used as an office of the Divisional Secretariat.
