Thapodhanarama Mula Maha Viharaya (Sinhala: තපෝධනාරාම මූල මහා විහාරය), is a Buddhist temple in Mahagoda village in Galle District, Sri Lanka. It is situated on the wayside of Ambalangoda-Karandeniya road about 2.4 km distance from Karandeniya town. Galagoda Shailathalarama Viharaya which is popular for having one of the longest reclining Buddha statues in the country is situated in front of this temple.

The Buddha shrine or the image house of Thapodhanarama Viharaya is considered an important monument bearing archaeological value. In the inner chamber of it is the main Buddha statue sculpted in the meditating posture and it is flanked by two other standing Buddha statues facing each other. The inner and outer walls of the chamber are painted with murals drawn in the art tradition related to the Kandyan Period.
A protected site
The ancient Buddha shrine within the precincts of Mahgoda Thapodanarama Vihara situated within the Grama Niladhari Division No. 91-A-Karandeniya South in the Karandeniya Divisional Secretary Division is an archaeological protected monument, declared by a government Gazette notification published on 6 June 2008.
