Broughton Bungalow (Bandarawela) B roughton Bungalow (Sinhala: බණ්ඩාරවෙල බ්රෝටන් බංගලාව) is a plantation house located in Poonagala in the southeast of Bandarawela town, in Badulla District, Sri Lanka. History A foreign estate superintendent named Broughton is said to have built this bungalow more than 100 years ago (Priyadarshani & Gunasena, 2017). A few clay tiles used to pave the building contain the embedded marks of the crown and the crest of the queen (Priyadarshani & Gunasena, 2017). The property consists of the bungalow building, kitchen, cattle hut, office and surrounding rampart (Priyadarshani & Gunasena, 2017). The bungalow consists of 8 rooms, one bathroom and two lavatories (Priyadarshani & Gunasena, 2017). The kitchen is completely dilapidated and only its foundation remains today (Priyadarshani & Gunasena, 2017).
