Dummala Ella Falls D ummala Ella Falls (Sinhala: දුම්මල ඇල්ල) is one of the popular waterfalls located along the Bulathkohupitiya-Dolosbage road in Kegalle District, Sri Lanka. Hidden in the woods of the Karambuneti kele, the fall is situated near rural Narangala village. The word Dummala is a traditional Sinhala name used for naturally occurring substance that can be found, either at uppermost crustal levels (mostly under the freshwater swampy areas) or as a dried resin like gums extracted from the Dummala tree ( Shorea oblongifolia ), which is endemic to Sri Lanka. It is powdered and used to make flares in Thovil exorcisms and processions etc. The fall stands at a height of about 10 m.
