Haldummulla Fort, built by the Portuguese in the 17th century near Idalgashinna, served as a frontier post to Uva; now only stone ruins remain.

Haldummulla Fort (Sinhala: හල්දුම්මුල්ල බලකොටුව; Tamil: ஹல்தும்முல்லைக் கோட்டை) is a ruined Portugues fort built on the ridge of the Haldumulla hill in Badulla District, Sri Lanka. Today, only the stone foundations of the fort remain.

History

The history of the Haldummulla Fort runs back to the Portuguese era in Sri Lanka. It is said that the Portuguese ruled the areas up to Ratnapura, with the entrance to the Uva territory located at Idalgashinna, near which the fort stands.
