Nagadeepa Maha Wewa (Sinhala: නාගදීප මහ වැව) is a mediam size reservoir in Andaulpatha village close to Mahiyangana town in Badulla District, Sri Lanka. It is surrounded by Morana Reservoir to the east, Mapakada Wewa and Hepola Oya Reservoir to the west, Dambarawa Wewa to the northwest, and Loggal Oya Reservoir to the southwest. It is the major water source for all the agricultural activities around the area.

History

The Nagadeepa Reservoir and its canal network was constructed in 1970 under the Nagadeepa Maha Wewa Scheme. The capacity of the reservoir was increased in 1972 by raising the height of the dam by 10 feet.

Reservoir

Presently, the reservoir bund is used as a major road in the area. The gated spillway has four radial gates. There are more than 20 distributary canals connected to the reservoir. Two small tanks, Rotagolla Wewa and Aawatta Wewa are linked with the main canal of the reservoir.
