Colombo Old Kachcheri

Old Colombo Kachcheri Building
The old Colombo Kachcheri Building (Sinhala: කොළඹ පැරණි කච්චේරිය) is located on the present Colombo Divisional Secretariat premises on Dam Street near Pettah Methodist Church in Colombo District, Sri Lanka.

The word Kachcheri (or District Secretariat) is used to denote the principal government department that administrates a district in Sri Lanka. The old Kachcheri building at Colombo is claimed to be a Dutch country house that existed in the 18th century (Welandawe & Weerasinghe, 2016). The building is illustrated in B. van Lier's 1750 painting "De Uytvlught Country House, Colombo" which is presently preserved in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the national museum of the Netherlands dedicated to Dutch arts and history.
