Riverston (Sinhala: රිවස්ටන්) is a popular eco-tourism destination in the northern part of the Knuckles Mountain Range in Matale District, Sri Lanka (Chandrarathne & Abeywickrama, 2022). The site is considered important because of its rich biodiversity and climate.

The Riverston area contains diversified forest formations and a wide variety of rare and endemic flora and fauna. The highest point (Riverston View Point) rises up to 1,480 m (4855.64 ft.) above mean sea level and the area receives precipitation between 2,500 - 3,000 ml annually with a temperature ranging between 18 °C to 28 °C (Perera et al., 2011). The area represents the wet zone of the country and the major forest formations of the landscape include lower rainforests and sub-montane forests (Perera et al., 2011).
