Ambalan Oya Reservoir (Sinhala: අම්බලන් ඔය ජලාශය) is a reservoir in Ampalathuru village in Ampara District, Sri Lanka. It is situated between Malayadi and Pannalgama reservoirs near Damana town.
History
Positioned south of the Gal Oya Scheme, Ambalan Oya is a new reservoir constructed in 1959-1961 by impounding the waters of the Ambalan Oya River by the Gal Oya Development Board (Arumugam, 1969).
The Reservoir
Ambalan Oya reservoir is one of the tanks in the Ambalan Oya River basin. The reservoir bund is about 2,815 m in length while it has a storage of 35,000 acre feet (Arumugam, 1969). The reservoir has 1 sluice and 1 spill (Arumugam, 1969). The water is used for irrigation purposes in the area.
