Kekanadura Wewa, also known as Ellakanda Wewa (Sinhala: කැකණදුර වැව, ඇල්ලකන්ද වැව) is a major reservoir in Matara District, Sri Lanka. Belonging to the Devinuwara Divisional Secretariat, it is located within the Ellakanda Forest Reserve.
History

The Reservoir
Kekanadura Wewa is one of the tanks located in the Nilwala Ganga River Basin. Its bund length is about 125 m and has a storage capacity of 16,120 acre feet. The water extends over about 2,270 acres at its full supply level. The tank is fed by its 2.6-square-mile catchment. The present tank has one spill and one sluice. The spill is a natural type and is 15.25 m in length.
